CHARLESTON, Ill. -- Like the women's squad before them, the Eastern Illinois men's golf squad will take to the links over the next couple of days for the 2010 Ohio Valley Conference golf championship, beginning Monday and finishing up on Wednesday.
The par 72, 6,858 yard GreyStone Golf Club in Dickson, Tenn. will play host to the 54-hole championship, with Eastern Kentucky the official host of the year-end event.
The Panthers will go up against conference rivals Austin Peay, Eastern Kentucky, Jacksonville State, Morehead State, Murray State, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech and UT Martin, with a practice round scheduled for today before the real action gets going on Monday morning.

Francisco Cherizola and All-OVC Newcomer honoree
Gino Parrodi each finished with a 16-over-par 232 to lead all Panthers. The duo were three of six golfers who finished in the 24th spot, as Cherizola had rounds of 75-83-74, and Parrodi went 79-73-80.
Other Panther players returning this season included
Matt Bird and
Lucas Mannix, who finished 32nd and 43rd place, respectively.
As a team, the Panthers jumped from a first day last place standing to an eighth place second day finish. Following final round action, EIU jumped another spot, ending the end-of-season meet in seventh place with a combined score of 931. Eastern placed ahead of eighth place UT Martin and last-place Tennessee Tech.

Kevin Flack owns a nine-round average of 74.2, just barely ahead of returning All-OVC honoree
Gino Parrodi's 74.3 average off 22 rounds of action.
Francisco Cherizola sports a 74.7 average, followed by
Matt Bird at 75.3.
As a squad this spring, the Panthers have two fifth place finishes and a high of third at the recent WIU Invitational.
