CHARLESTON, Ill. – Three returning Eastern Illinois baseball players – Mike Martin, Dillon Roark and Gerik Wallsten – were selected as Chicago Suburban Baseball League All-Stars and were on hand for the annual game Monday (July 12) evening in Crestwood, Ill.

They're three of a number of Panthers playing in summer wood bat leagues from North Carolina to Chicagoland.

Roark's South Division Team was a 10-3 winner at Standard Bank Stadium. Martin and Wallsten were teammates on the North Division Team. Complete statistics for the All-Star Game were not made available on the CSBL website.

This summer Roark is pitching for the Beecher Muskies, where he is a teammate of fellow Panthers Tom Kimbro and Brad Schweigert. Roark has posted a 4-0 record and 0.85 ERA for Beecher, surrendering only three earned over 31 2/3 innings pitched.

Martin is pitching for the Addison Braves, teaming with fellow Panther David Ciaglia, and Wallsten is catching for the Lombard Orioles this summer. Complete individual statistics were unavailable, but Wallsten's Lombard team leads the CSBL's North Division with a 15-3 record.

In the Costal Plain League (of the Carolinas), Zach Borenstein remains a starter for the Morehead City Marlins. He hit the first grand slam in team history and finished with six RBIs in a July 6 victory at the Fayetteville SwampDogs. Borenstein has seen action at third base, right field and designated hitter this summer. He leads Morehead City with 11 extra-base hits and 23 RBIs.

In the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League (of Ohio), Mike Hoekstra and Matt Miller are teammates on the Lima Locos. Hoekstra picked up his second win of the summer Monday (July 12) with a quality start in Lima's victory against Southern Ohio. He did not give up an earned over 6 2/3 innings of six-hit ball.

Miller has pitched in nine games in relief this summer, striking out 11 and issuing only three walks over 11 2/3 innings.
