CSBL Website with Info on Martin's No-Hitter

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois baseball rising junior pitcher Mike Martin struck out 11 of the 16 batters he faced en route to tossing a five-inning no-hitter for his Addison Braves summer league team at this past weekend's American Amateur Baseball Congress regional qualifier tournament in the Chicagoland area.

 

Martin led the way in Addison's 11-0 victory against the Royals of the Southside Wooden Bat League. The Addison Braves, which are part of the Chicago Suburban Baseball League, were eliminated from the regional qualifier by the Westmont Red Sox in their next game.

 

Addison will represent the Wisconsin State League in a National Amateur Baseball Federation Major regional tournament this weekend. The Beecher Muskies are set to host the event. Returning Panthers Dillon Roark, Tom Kimbro and Brad Schweigert have been playing for the Muskies this summer.

 

Meanwhile, two CSBL teams are moving on to the AABC Stan Musial Regional in Battle Creek, Mich., this week. Gerik Wallsten's Lombard Orioles was one of those two teams to advance after winning its regional qualifier tournament. Lombard posted an impressive 25-4 record in CSBL play this summer.

 

In other collegiate wood bat summer leagues, the following Panthers were also part of playoff qualifiers:

Finally in Minor League Baseball, Josh Mueller won his second consecutive start with another quality performance for the Tri-City Dust Devils (Colorado Rockies affiliate) of the Northwest League. Mueller surrendered only one unearned run over six innings of four-hit ball July 29 in a victory the Everett Aquasox (Seattle Mariners affiliate). Mueller is 2-0 with a 1.90 ERA and a .202 batting average against since being selected by the Rockies in the June MLB First-Year Player Draft.
