 ACADEMIC STUDY HOURS

A quiet monitored study session is held for two hours each evening, Sunday through Thursday nights from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. During the day the new Academic Services Center is open during normal business hours 8:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. - Monday through Thursday. The center is also open on Friday’s from 8:30 a.m. through 2:30 p.m.

Student-athletes can study in the academic services center during any of the times listed above and a member of the Academic Services staff will be on duty during those hours. Student-athletes with a cumulative grade point average of 2.50 or below are required by Academic Services to attend.

All incoming freshman and transfer student-athletes are also required to attend for a minimum of four hours per week. Coaches will receive reports (every Friday) on their student-athletes attendance for that week’s academic study hours.

Academic performance is monitored both formally and informally by the academic services staff. Attendance, effort and course grades are monitored.

Academic Services encourages student-athletes to bring academic concerns to the attention of a staff member as soon as possible.

When necessary and appropriate, student-athletes are referred to specialized resources and services, both on and off campus.

COMMUNITY SERVICE -- ‘EXTEND-A-PAW’

Student-athletes are encouraged to participate in the Panther ‘Extend-A-Paw" program... a program designed to provide community service opportunities to the Charleston area.
