Created in 1982, the Glen Hesler Award is the most prestigious honor that the athletic department bestows upon an individual each year at the Panther Club Fund Drive. The award is named for Glen Hesler, a long time benefactor for the University, a distinguished alumnus and a former football player in the 1920’s. Hesler loved Panther Athletics and its coaches. He raised money to support EIU student-athletes, attended events and worked to help increase the public’s perception of Panther Athletics being first class.
