DICKSON, Tenn. -- Due to a rain-shortened final day of play, the Eastern Illinois women's golf squad finished up in sixth place at the end-of-season Ohio Valley Conference golf championship, as the final individual and team scores were calculated following Friday action as inclement weather hastened all Saturday play.
Jaymie Voorhees led all Panther golfers with her 11th place finish day two score of 77, which follows her day one score of 76. The senior ends her Panther career with a ten-over-par 190 for the weekend.
The other Panther competitors included
Veronica Bernier tied for 23rd place (200/+20), and
Lauren Williams in 28th (204/+24).
Katie Imburgia, a fifth-year senior finishing up her Panther playing days as well ended up tying for 29th (205/+25), while Emily Calhoun rounded out the Panther contingent with a 33rd final score (209/+29).
Murray State defended their 2009 title with a +27 team score of 747. Jacksonville State finished just five strokes behind for second, with Morehead State (3rd), Austin Peay (4th) and Eastern Kentucky (5th) all placing ahead of the Panthers.
EIU had a final +77 team score of 797, finishing ahead of Tennessee Tech and Tennessee State in seventh and eighth place, respectively.
