With the Eastern Illinois 2019 football season still a few weeks away along with the upcoming NFL season, several former Panthers are currently wrapping up professional football seasons at other levels.

The Panthers currently have three former players that are completing play in the Indoor Football League with Jourdan Wickliffe, Adolphus Barnes and Joe Powell all active this season.

Wickliffe was a second team All-IFL performer at defensive back finishing up his second season playing for the Iowa Barnstormers.  Wickliffe has made 67 tackles with four forced fumbles and one interception this season.  His team is set to play for the United Conference Championship this weekend.

Barnes is in his first season as a member of the Nebraska Danger team.  The offensive lineman has helped his ream reach the Intense Conference Championship game this weekend.

Powell is a defensive back playing for the Green Bay Blizzard.  A former receiver at EIU, Powell has made 64 tackles with two interceptions this season.  The Green Bay team lost in the first round of the IFL playoffs last weekend.

Mack Weaver was in training camp with the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League but was released prior to the start of the season.

Three former Panthers will open NFL camps in the coming weeks.  Jimmy Garoppolo returns as the franchise quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers.  Kamu Grugier-Hill was a starter at linebacker last season for the Philadelphia Eagles.  Alexander Hollins was an undrafted free agent this spring by the Minnesota Vikings after earning All-American honors last year for EIU.
