GAME 16
Eastern Illinois looks to continue its hot start to the Ohio Valley Conference season as the Panthers make the weekend trip to Tennessee.Ā The Panthers sit in first place in the OVC as the lone remaining unbeaten team in conference play at 6-0 following a 71-40 win over Tennessee Tech last Thursday.Ā The win moved EIU to 9-6 on the season as the Panthers have a six game overall win streak and are 7-0 at home. UT Martin is 6-11 overall, 3-3 in the OVC after splitting games last week with a win at Western Illinois and loss at Lindenwood.
MCGLONE ADDS ANOTHER DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Macy McGlone set the Eastern Illinois school record for career double-doubles in the opening week of the Ohio Valley Conference season with back-to-back double-doubles at Southeast Missouri and Little Rock.Ā She added three more to her school record mark during the Panthers recent homestand including 16 points and 11 rebounds in the win over Tennessee Tech which also included five blocks and five assists.Ā McGlone currently ranks second in the OVC in scoring at 17.9 points per game and field goal percentage (48.8 percent) while leading the conference in both rebounding (10.3 rpg) and blocked shots (27).Ā For her EIU career the senior continues to climb up several charts passing the 1,200 point mark for her Panthers career last Tuesday against SIUE.Ā McGlone is currently 23rd in career scoring at EIU (1,219 points), seventh in career rebounds (758) and fifth in career blocks (128).Ā Ā
SCORING SWEET SPOTĀ
Eastern Illinois seems to have found a number both offensively and defensively where the Panthers have had success this season in terms of the win/loss column.Ā EIU scored 71 points in last Thursday's win over Tennessee Tech.Ā It marked the eighth time this season that EIU has scored between 66 and 79 points in a game. The Panthers are 8-0 in those contests with a season high of 77 in the win over Lindenwood.Ā Only once this season has EIU won a game when they scored below 66 points picking up a 59-56 road win at Little Rock.Ā On the defensive side when the Panthers have held opponents to 65 or fewer points they are 9-0.Ā On the year EIU is averaging 61.9 points per game while averaging 69.1 points per game in the nine wins.Ā
