Will Butler from men’s soccer and Kelsey Roggemann from volleyball have been named the EIU Student-Athletes of the Week following the first full weekend of competition for EIU’s fall sports.

 

Butler made his first collegiate start a memorable one as the freshman knocked home the winning goal in a 2-1 overtime victory at Northwestern. Butler had two shots during the match including the game winner just 3:29 into the overtime session. Butler’s goal came as Northwestern’s goal keeper tried to punch out an EIU throw in.

 

Roggemann helped lead the Panthers to a 2-2 record at the Indiana State volleyball tournament. She had 24 kills on the weekend hitting .254 with eight blocks and three service aces. Her best hitting performance game on Saturday in a 3-1 win over Coppin State in which she registered eight kills with a .500 hitting percentage.
