Eastern Illinois athletic program has not only distinguished themselves among the NCAA ranks, but the Panthers have also sent a number of athletes on to represent their native countries on the world's greatest stage. Listed below are former Eastern Illinois athletes who have gone on to compete in either Summer or Winter Olympic games.
At the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics Lauren Doyle became the first EIU athlete to compete in three Olympic Games and then the second to earn a medal. Team USA earned bronze in Women's Rugby Sevens. Prior to that only one EIU athlete had won an Olympic medal with former track All-American Dan Steele taking home bronze in the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City as a member of the US Bobsled team.
