Malcolm Herron from men's basketball and Sydney Mitchell from women's basketball have been named the EIU student-athletes of the week.

Herron won OVC Newcomer of the Week honors after scoring a season high 13 points at Northwestern. Herron knocked down all six of his free throw attempts while hitting 1-of-2 shots from 3-point range. The junior added four rebounds.

Mitchell just missed a double-double during the win at IUPUI. Mitchell led EIU with 12 points and had nine rebounds playing 22 minutes off the bench. Mitchell added three steals and one assist.
