CHARLESTON, Ill. – Tyler Brandon from baseball and Chandra Golden from women’s track have been named the Eastern Illinois student-athletes of the month for April 2008. Each month during the school year one male and one female student-athlete will be recognized for their outstanding performance in their sport.

Brandon, a senior relief pitcher from Danville, Ill., was stellar out of the bullpen for the Panthers during the month of April. The right hander made eight appearances with a 1.33 ERA and two saves in 20.1 innings of work. Late in the month of April, Brandon was the NCAA leader in earned run average for the season.

Golden, a junior hurdler from Normal, Ill., seemed to be hitting her stride as the Panthers closed in on the 2008 OVC outdoor track championships. She was twice named OVC track athlete of the month in April and owns the OVC season best time in the 100 meter hurdles at 14.03, a time which ranks second all time at EIU.
