Ben Thoma from baseball and Stephanie Maday from softball have been selected the EIU student-athletes of the week.

Thoma helped the Panthers sweep their second straight weekend series as he hit .533 in three wins over Murray State. Thoma was 8-of-15 with three runs scored and seven runs driven in. He connected for home runs in wins on Saturday and Sunday.

Maday helped the Panthers sweep Austin Peay and clinch the No. 2 seed in the OVC Tournament. Maday pitched 1-0 shut outs on Saturday and Sunday. She had three innings of relief in game two for a save. For the weekend she scattered eight hits striking out 18 batters without allowing a run.
