Ta'Kenya Nixon from women's basketball and Mick Viken from men's track were named the EIU student-athletes of the week.

Nixon helped power the women's squad to home wins over Evansville and Sacramento State.  Against Evansville she had a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.  In the overtime win versus Sacramento State she added 13 points and 7 rebounds.

Viken opened the 2013 track season in much the same fashion in which he closed the 2012 campaign.  The junior easily won the pole vault by close to one and a half feet as he cleared 17'5" to break his own school record.
