Alex McNulty and Nick Borre both from football were named the Eastern Illinois student-athletes of the week for their performances in the win over San Diego State.

McNulty was named the Sports Network National co-Defensive Player of the Week and the Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week after picking off two passes in the win. McNulty added five tackles, one tackle for loss and two pass break-ups in the Panthers fifth victory over an FBS opponent.

Borre made his first career start at center and was a part of the offensive line that was named the OVC Offensive Player of the Week for their efforts against SDSU. Borre and his teammates did not allow SDSU defenders to sack quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and only once was the All-American knocked down. Borre was awarded the game ball by the coaching staff after the victory.
