Cortney Jerzy of women's soccer and Anthony Goodman of football were named the EIU student-athletes of the week.

Jerzy was 2-0 in goal for the Panthers as they opened Ohio Valley Conference play with a pair of victories over Belmont and Tennessee Tech. Jerzy turned away 12 shots in a shutout victory in overtime at Belmont. She made three saves in the win over TTU. EIU women's soccer is in first place in the OVC standings.

Goodman was part of a defensive unit that shutdown Eastern Kentucky during a 42-7 victory by the Panthers. Goodman finished with a team high eight tackles as he was named the OVC Defensive Player of the Week. With 23 seconds remaining in the second quarter he returned a fumble 70-yards for a touchdown, setting a school record.
