Jimmy Garoppolo from football and Reynae Hutchinson from volleyball have been named the EIU student-athletes of the week.

Garoppolo became the EIU career leader in passing yards and the OVC career leader in total offense in the first half of EIU's 55-33 homecoming win over Southeast Missouri. Garoppolo had more than 300 yards in the first half finishing with 376 yards and three touchdowns.

Hutchinson helped the Panthers win a pair of home OVC matches against West Division rivals Austin Peay and Murray State. The senior posted double-doubles (kills / digs) in both wins with 36 kills and 18 digs for the weekend.
