Sherman Blanford from men's basketball and Katlyn Payne from women's basketball have been named the EIU student-athletes of the week.

Blanford helped the EIU men win their second straight Ohio Valley Conference game on Saturday scoring a career high 24 points with 16 rebounds.  For the week he averaged 20 points a game and 11 rebounds while shooting 68 percent from the floor.

Payne became the EIU women's single season record holder for 3-pointers made as she sank six in the first half of Saturday's OVC win over SIUE.  Payne finished with 25 points making 6-of-8 from 3-point range and 7-of-8 from the free throw line.
