Matt Borens from baseball has been named the EIU student-athlete of the week.

Borens was stellar in the Panthers OVC Tournament win over Jacksonville State in the opening round. The pitcher went 8 2/3 innings allowing just two hits and one earned run in the Panthers 2-1 victory. He struck out 11 batters while walking one. Borens was named to the OVC All-Tournament team.
