Dominic Recca from men's soccer and Adam Drake from football have been named the EIU student-athletes of the week to open the 2014 school year.

Recca helped lead the Panthers to a season opening win over Saint Francis on Saturday contributing to both goals in a 2-0 victory. A true freshman, Recca scored one goal and had an assist on the other to help EIU win its first season opener since 2011.

Drake was named the OVC Offensive Player of the Week after hauling in 11 passes for 109 yards and one touchdown in the season opener at Minnesota. Drake moved into 10th on the EIU career lists for receptions and receiving yards during the game as he posted his seventh career 100-yard receiving day.
