Cornell Johnston from men's basketball and Calvin Edwards from men's track were named the Back To Health EIU student-athletes of the week.

Johnston helped the Panthers win their ninth straight game as they swept road games over the weekend at Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State. He scored 22 points in the win at MSU on Saturday and averaged 16 points for the week as he earned OVC Player and Freshman of the Week honors. EIU climbed into the Mid-Major Top 25 poll for the first time since the 2001 season as EIU is ranked No. 23 this week. Johnston is the only player to start all 18 games for EIU this season.

Edwards posted a first place finish for the EIU men as the opened the spring portion of their indoor schedule with a third place team finish at the Illini Classic. Edwards won the 400m with a time 48.32 which ranks 15th in the nation following last week's events.
