GREEN BAY, Wisc. - The Green Bay Packers signed tight end Ryan Krause from the practice squad and signed tackle Orrin Thompson and safety Tristan Burge to the practice squad. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, made the announcement Monday.

Krause, a fourth-year player from Nebraska-Omaha, spent three seasons with San Diego. The 6-foot-3, 244-pound player was a sixth round draft pick of the Chargers in 2004 and has played in five career games.

Thompson recently cleared waivers and was signed to the club's practice squad. Burge, a rookie from Eastern Illinois, is a 6-foot, 210-pound safety. He will wear No. 46.

Burge (Romeoville, Ill./Romeoville) finished the 2006 season with 118 total tackles including 48 solo and five for a loss. Burge also had two sacks, two interceptions and three pass break-ups over the course of the Panthers 13 games. He was a first team All-OVC honoree for the second straight season. He was named to four different post-season All-American teams for being a vital part of the Panthers defense that finished first in the nation in turnovers gained.

Released from the practice squad was wide receiver Onrea Jones.
