CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois has released its television schedule for the 2007-08 men's and women's basketball seasons. The Panthers will host an exhibition doubleheader on Thursday, Nov. 1 with the women playing Truman State at 5 p.m. The men will host Monmouth College at 7:15 p.m.
WEIU Channel 51 will broadcast all 12 regular-season home men's games along with six additional home women's games. The men's squad will also make an appearance on ESPNU for the second straight season with the EIU game at Tennessee State on Jan. 19 scheduled to be broadcast. That tip time is set for 4:30 p.m. (CST).
The broadcast schedule kick offs on Saturday, Nov. 10 when the men battle Harris-Stowe at 7 p.m. The other non-conference men's game set to be broadcast on WEIU is the Tuesday, Nov. 13 match-up with Loyola-Chicago. WEIU will then carry the remaining ten Ohio Valley Conference home games which are all slated for 7:15 p.m. starts. Television coverage will begin for those games at 7 p.m.
Eastern Illinois women's game with regional rival Indiana State has been picked up by WEIU. The game is set for a 7 p.m. start on Thursday, Nov. 29. The other five game broadcasts will be part of OVC Saturday doubleheaders. EIU will play Tennessee State (Dec. 8), Southeast Missouri (Jan. 5), Eastern Kentucky (Jan. 12), Morehead State (Jan. 26) and Samford (March 1) on WEIU. All women's games that are part of OVC doubleheaders will start at 5 p.m. this season.
One additional game may be picked up by either WEIU or a part of the ESPN family of networks. The Panthers Feb. 23 contest as part of this year's ESPNU Bracketbusters may be televised once the opponent is designated in late January.
Along with WEIU's coverage of home basketball, all home and road Ohio Valley Conference games this season can also be seen via live internet streaming at www.OVCSports.TV.
Basketball season tickets are now on sale with single game tickets set to go on sale on Monday, Oct. 29. Tickets can be purchased online at www.EIUpanthers.com, in person at the Lantz Arena ticket office or by phone at (217) 581-2106.
