CHARLESTON, Ill. -- Members of the 1982 Panther football team are invited back to campus on September 15 to celebrate a 25th anniversary reunion of that NCAA I-AA quarterfinal season. EIU hosts Illinois State at 6 p.m. that evening.
In '82, Eastern tied for the second most wins in a season finishing with an 11-1-1 record and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA I-AA tournament in the Panthers first year as a I-AA program.
EIU defeated Jackson State 16-13 in overtime in a first round game before suffering their only loss of the season 20-19 at Tennessee State.
