CHARLESTON, Ill. -- While a remaining few from Eastern Illinois 1948 Corn Bowl football team stand on the field Saturday, others are not forgotten.
Those include Ashmore native Paul Conrad Burrus, who as a Marine died in the Korean conflict.
“I think he ought to have some recognition,” former EIU teammate Bill Pennybacker said. “In my mind he'll be looking down yelling 'hubba hubba.' ”
Pennybacker is coming from his Texas cattle ranch today for a reunion in which more than 150 former Eastern Illinois football players had said they planned to attend.
