CHARLESTON, Ill. – Freezing rain throughout east central Illinois early this week has forced Eastern Illinois softball's home opener, originally slated for Wednesday afternoon, to be rescheduled for Monday, March 31.

 

The Panthers were slated to host IUPUI for doubleheader action Wednesday at 4 p.m. When the two teams square off on the final day of the month, it is still scheduled to be a doubleheader with the first pitch at 4 p.m.

 

Eastern is now set to open the home portion of its schedule the weekend of March 21-22 when Austin Peay visits Williams Field for an Ohio Valley Conference series. Friday's doubleheader kicks off the Easter Weekend set at 4 p.m.

The Panthers travel to Florida Thursday for their annual spring break trip and begin play at the FAU Miken Invitational in Boca Raton Friday at 10 a.m. against Florida Gulf Coast.
