EDWARDSVILLE, Ill.Kristin Germann scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season, but it came after Eastern Illinois women's soccer had already surrendered a pair of first-half scores in a 2-1 loss at SIU Edwardsville Friday evening.

The Panthers (4-7-1) surrendered multiple goals for only the third time in their 13 games this year. The Panthers had given up only three first-half goals all season entering the night. But EIU's road struggles persisted as the team fell to 1-5-2 away from home. Eastern concludes its six-game road stretch Sunday at Southeast Missouri State.

Germann scored off an assist from Ashley Eck in 65th minute. She converted with a shot from 10 yards out into the right side of the goal. Eck tallied her team-leading fourth assist of the season on the score.

With seven goals midway through her sophomore season, Germann has already matched senior Kaitlin Sullivan for the team lead among active players. Germann has accounted for four of EIU's nine goals this season.

Eastern goalkeeper Kaylin Lorbert finished with four saves. The Cougars (7-2-1) scored their goals in the 13th and 43rd minutes. Kristin Dierker headed in her third goal of the season to open the scoring. About three minutes before halftime, Hope Jones was able to score with a long, well-placed shot from the right flank. It was her second goal of the season.

Friday night's game was the first meeting between the two schools since 1995, EIU's inaugural season. SIU Edwardsville is slated to play a full Ohio Valley Conference schedule next fall.

Sunday's kickoff against Southeast Missouri in Cape Girardeau is slated for 2 p.m.
