Sullivan Scores For 1-1 Tie At TTU

Panthers pick up a point in OVC women's soccer race

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - Eastern Illinois gained one point in the Ohio Valley Conference standings as the Panthers earned a 1-1 tie with Tennessee Tech on Sunday afternoon in Cookeville.  EIU will now be at home for the final weekend against UT Martin and Murray State.

Senior Kaitlin Sullivan scored the tying goal five minutes into the second half to bring the Panthers all-square with the Golden Eagles.  The Panthers improved to 2-2-2 in the OVC and 5-8-4 overall. 

Sullivan's goal was her second tally of the season and assisted by Kristin Germann.  The Panthers out shot the Golden Eagles by a 13-10 margin including three shots in the overtime periods. 

TTU had seven of its ten shots in the opening 45 minutes including a goal by Sarah Gawthrop on a penalty kick in the 25 minute mark.  

Panthers goalkeeper Kaylin Lorbert finished with four saves while Golden Eagles goalkeeper Becca Toler had five saves.
