CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- Southeast Missouri defender Courtney Luehmann scored an unassisted goal in the 14th minute and it proved to be the difference in the Ohio Valley Conference contest, as Eastern Illinois women's soccer concluded its six-game road stretch with a 1-0 loss Sunday afternoon.
The Panthers (4-8-2, 1-2 OVC) did not give SEMO (6-5, 2-1 OVC) a corner kick opportunity and limited the home team to four shots on goal. But EIU was credited with only one shot on goal among its 10 shots. Eastern tallied eight of its 10 shots in the second half.
The Panthers remained winless in Cape Girardeau since 2003. The Panthers finished their six-game road stretch with a 1-4-1 record. Eastern is now scheduled to play four its final five regular-season games at home.
Sam Balek, Hillary Blake and Erika Prazma went the distance among the EIU field players. Ashley Streid logged 43 minutes to lead the reserves. Goalkeeper Kaylin Lorbert finished with three saves.
Five of EIU's eight losses this season have been in 1-0 fashion, including each of its two OVC losses. The Panthers had to play each of their first three conference games on the road this fall.
Eastern begins its home-heavy stretch Friday against Morehead State. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
