MOREHEAD, Ky. - Ashley Streid sailed a ball over Eastern Kentucky goalkeeper Stephanie Lynch's head in the 72nd minute as Eastern Illinois picked up a 2-1 win in the opening round of the 2010 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament in Morehead, Ky.

The Panthers (7-8-5) will now play No. 1 seed Morehead State at 4 p.m. on Friday. EKU's season ends at 7-10-2.

EIU was able to strike first in the contest with Kristin Germann converting on a penalty kick in the 41st minute.

EKU equaled the score two minutes later as Courtney Nestor scored on an assist from Carly Muller to tie the score at 1-1 heading into the half.

The Panthers held a 10-9 shot advantage with six shots coming in the second half. Streid was able to break free down the right side of the goal box to score what proved to be the game winner.

Jessica Taldone went the distance in goal for the Panthers making two saves. Taldone was called to duty in place of first-team All-OVC goalkeeper Kaylin Lorbert who missed the contest with an injury. Lorbert will be a game time decision on Friday for the semifinal.

EIU is currently playing in its 12th consecutive OVC Tournament but this marks the first time since 2007 that the Panthers have advanced to the OVC Semifinals.
