Pratl Second Half Carries EIU At JSU

Sophomore scores 16 off the bench

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – Shaun Pratl came off the bench for 16 second half points as Eastern Illinois (5-7, 2-2 OVC) held on for a 61-54 win at Jacksonville State (2-11, 0-3 OVC) on Tuesday night.

The Panthers built an 11 point lead with 9:07 to play in the first half behind the offense of Curry McKinney who led EIU with 17 points. McKinney had ten in the first half.

JSU then went on a 12-0 run to take the lead 19-18 before Jeremy Granger put EIU back in front with a pair of free throws. Dominique Shellman had a runner with five seconds left in the half to put JSU up 28-26 at the break.

Pratl played 18 minutes in the second half to help EIU go back in front. Pratl was 5-of-7 from the floor and 6-of-7 from the free throw line. Granger added 12 points and James Hollowell ten points for EIU.

JSU was led by Jeremy Bynum with 18 points.

The Panthers return to action on Dec. 31 at Western Michigan.
