Chandra Golden went to college expecting to be an average hurdler, but she leaves extraordinary.
"Once I started competing, I set my personal expectations higher," said the fifth-year senior, who ended her Eastern Illinois University career Saturday by becoming the first four-time champion in the Ohio Valley Conference 100-meter hurdles.
Golden, who led University High School to the 2005 Class A state title, is retired for the foreseeable future.
There are some "last-chance" meets she could contest in an attempt to qualify for the NCAA Regional, but she has elected to call it quits.
