TURN BACK THE CLOCK TUESDAY is a  feature where we look back at some of the great moments in Eastern Illinois University Athletic history.  Relive other great moments here.

Sept. 1, 1989 -- Eastern Illinois volleyball wins its season opener against Northern Illinois at the EIU Classic in McAfee Gymnasium, its first of 20 victories during the 1989 campaign.

Deanna Lund (Mount Prospect, Ill.) keeps an overpass in play as Jennifer Aggertt (Jacksonville, Ill.) looks on. The Panthers defeated NIU in four sets on opening night and also played in tournaments hosted by Cal State Fullerton, Louisville, Evansville, Loyola and Wright State in 1989.

Along with winning Evansville's tournament the final weekend of September, EIU also posted victories against Utah, DePaul, Bradley, Butler, Kansas State, Mississippi State, West Virginia and Connecticut.

Lund, who led the Panthers in kills (371) and digs (417)  in 1989, finished her four-year collegiate career in 1990 with a program-record 1,393 career digs. She still ranks fifth on the EIU all-time list. Lund (1,031 kills) and classmate Diane Kruto (1,037 kills and 1,335 digs) were the first two players in program history to record 1,000 kills and digs in their careers.
