Panthers return home from Mid-Continent Championship

TURN BACK THE CLOCK TUESDAY is a new feature on www.EIUpanthers.com where we look back at some of the great moments in Eastern Illinois University Athletic history.  

Relive some of the greatest moments here:

March 11, 1992 - Members of the Eastern Illinois men's basketball team are shown here returning from the Panthers championship at the Mid-Continent Conference Tournament.  EIU won three straight games at the Mid-Con Tournament in Dayton, Ohio to advance to the school's first NCAA Division I Tournament.

EIU would earn a No. 15 seed in the tournament and go on to face Indiana University coached by Bob Knight.  The first round game was played in Boise, Idaho with Indiana winning 94-55.

To win the Mid-Con Tournament EIU picked up wins over Wright State, UW Green Bay and Illinois-Chicago.  The Panthers cruised in the championship game winning 83-68 over UIC.  Steve Rowe as named the tournament MVP.
