Senior Jessica Blake scored her first goal of the season in the home victory

, Ill. The Eastern Illinois women's soccer team netted two second half goals to upend Morehead State, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon at Lakeside Field. EIU improves to 5-8-2 on the year and 4-2 in Ohio Valley Conference action.
 
The match remained scoreless until the 54th minute when senior Jessica Blake headed the ball into the back of the net from five yards out off a long cross from the right by freshman Meagan Radloff. The game-winning goal by Blake was the first goal of the season for the Naperville, Ill., native while the assist by Radloff was the first of her Panther career.
 
Kristin Germann netted her fifth goal of the year to put the Eagles (6-7-3, 2-4-1 OVC) away in the 87th minute when she dribbled the ball down the left side of the field before connecting from eight-yards out.
 
The Panthers took two more shots (15-13) in the match than the Eagles, including an 11-4 advantage in shots on goal. Morehead State took one more (5-4) corner kick than EIU. Both teams committed seven fouls in the contest.
 
Ashley Streid paced the Panthers with four shots on goal while Germann added three. Five other EIU players had a shot in the match.
 
Elizabeth McSparin led the Eagles with five shots (three on goal) while Stephanie Gildehaus and Brittany Kiracofe both added two shots.
 
Jessica Taldone posted her fifth shutout of the year, making four saves between the pipes for EIU. Katie Blevins made nine saves in goal for Morehead State.
 
The Panthers improved to 11-5-2 in the all-time series with Morehead State while remaining unblemished in matches played at Lakeside Field with a 7-0-2 record. EIU head coach Summer Perala earned her first career win against the Eagles, moving to 1-2-1.
 
The Panthers returns to action on Oct. 21-23 when they travel to Murray State and Austin Peay. EIU faces Murray State on Oct 21 at 3 p.m. before playing Austin Peay at 2 p.m. on Oct. 23.
