Lady Govs Edge Panthers in Double Overtime

EIU returns to action for senior day on Oct. 30 against SIU Edwardsville

, Tenn. Tatiana Ariza netted the game-winning goal in double overtime to lift Austin Peay over the Eastern Illinois women's soccer team, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon. EIU drops to 5-10-2 on the year and 4-4 in Ohio Valley Conference action.
 
Ariza scored her 15th goal of the season in the 104th minute from the top of the box on a pass from Emily Perkins to give the Lady Govs (9-6-1, 3-3-1 OVC) the victory in their final home match of the year.
 
Austin Peay took eight more shots (18-10) than the Panthers, including a 9-7 advantage in shots on goal. The Lady Govs also took three more corner kicks (4-1) while EIU committed three more fouls (9-6) in the match.
 
Ashley Streid led the Panthers with four shots (three on goal) while Kristin Germann added three shots (two on goal). Lauren Hoppensteadt and Meagan Radloff both had a shot on goal in the contest.
 
Jessica Taldone took the loss between the pipes for EIU, making seven saves in 104 minutes of action. Sam Balek, Hillary Blake and Erika Prazma all played the entire match for the Panthers.
 
Ariza paced the Lady Govs with six shots, including four shots on goal. Emily Kink also added four shots for Austin Peay.
 
Haylee Shoaff posted her third shutout of the year for Austin Peay in goal, making six saves on the day.
 
The Panthers return to action at home on Oct. 30 against SIU Edwardsville in their regular-season finale. The match will serve as senior day for EIU's five seniors.
