CHARLESTON, Ill. – Andy Quiceno led the Austin Peay women's soccer team to 6-1 win over Eastern Illinois on Friday afternoon at Lakeside Field, posting a hat trick in the Lady Govs victory. EIU falls to 4-11 (2-4 OVC) on the year.
In addition to Andy Quiceno's three goals, Tatiana Ariza added two goals and two assists while her twin sister Natalia Ariza contributed two assists. All told, the Lady Govs (7-7, 3-2 OVC) recorded 18 points in the match.
Austin Peay jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the 12
th minute, scoring their first of four, first-half goals. The Lady Govs added two more second-half goals before the Panthers cut their deficit to five (6-1).
Hannah Miller scored her second goal of the season with a shot from the left, just outside the top of the box. Classmate
Molly Hawkins posted the assist on the play.
EIU took two more shots (12-10) than Austin Peay while both schools recorded seven shots on goal. The Lady Govs committed four more fouls (13-9) in the match. Both squads took one corner kick.
Kristin Germann, Miller and
Ashley Streid paced the Panther offense with two shots each. Tatiana Ariza led the Lady Govs with four shots (three on goal).
Emily Hinton (2-1) took the loss in goal for EIU, making one save and surrendering four goals. Haylee Shoaff (6-7) posted the win between the pipes for Austin Peay, making six saves and only allowing one goal.
The Panthers return to action on Sunday, Oct. 14 when they play host to Murray State at 1 p.m.
