RICHMOND, Ky. – The Panther women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 contest at Eastern Kentucky on Sunday afternoon. EIU falls to 5-12-1 (3-5-1 OVC) on the season.
EKU (9-6-2, 5-2-1 OVC) broke open a scoreless match in the 47
th minute when Nikki Donnelly scored her seventh goal of the year to put the Colonels up 1-0. Kristan Paynter pushed EKU's lead to 2-0 in the 58
th minute off an assist from Brittany Nomady.
Brooke Sill got the Panthers within one (2-1) in the 75
th minute with her third goal of the year, heading the ball into the back of the net off a ball played by classmate
Meagan Radloff.
EKU took one more shot (9-8) than EIU, including one more shot on goal (4-3). The Panthers committed one more foul (7-6) than the Colonels while EKU recorded three more corner kicks (7-4).
Kristin Germann led the Panthers with two shots (one on goal) while
Molly Hawkins and Sill both added one shot on goal. Donnelly paced the Colonels with three shots (two on goal).
Emily Hinton (3-2-1) took the loss in goal for EIU, allowing two goals and making one save in 63 minutes of action. Erika Wolfer (6-6-2) recorded the win between the pipes for EKU, surrendering one goal and making two saves.
EIU concludes regular-season action at Lakeside Field against Belmont on Oct. 26 at 3 p.m.
