CHARLESTON, Ill. – A total of nine first-place finishes were won by the Eastern Illinois track and field teams at the Friday Night Special held inside Lantz Fieldhouse. The women's team captured five top finishes while the men took home four, respectively.
Senior
Emily Quinones paced the women's team, winning the 200-meter dash in a time of 25:32 while taking second in the 55-meter dash. Senior
Megan Gingerich won the 400-meter dash in a time of 58:56 while junior
Paige Biehler won the 600-meter run.
Junior
Erika Ramos rounded out the Panthers scoring in the middle-distance events, placing first in the 800-meter run. In the 3000-meter run, senior
Caitlin Napoleoni took second in a time of 10:21.97.
Freshman
Maura Cummins led the women in field events as she won the high jump while sophomore
Jade Riebold took second in the pole vault.
Junior
Zye Boey paced the men's team, winning both the 55-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. He crossed the finish line in the 200-meter dash in a time of 21.56, setting a new Lantz Fieldhouse record in the event.
Other top performers for the men were freshman
Bryce Basting who won the one-mile run and
Mick Viken who won the pole vault. Two other Panthers finished as runner-ups to their teammates in those events as junior
Graham Morris placed second in the one-mile run and junior
Scott Mammoser took second in the pole vault.
Also for the men, freshman
Ephraim Dorsey was second in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:21.32 and senior
Matt Feldhake was third in the 5000-meter run in a time of 15:22.21.
Both squads return to action on Feb. 24-25 at the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships in Nashville, Tenn.
