TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Sydney Lovelace scored the only goal of the match in the 87
th minute to lead the Indiana State women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Eastern Illinois on Friday night at Memorial Stadium. The Panthers fall to 1-4 on the year.
Lovelace netted her first goal of the season from the left side of the box on an assist from Alexandra Roadas. Indiana State improved to 2-2 on the year with the win.
The Sycamores took 12 more shots (17-5) than EIU, including five more shots on goal (6-1). Both teams committed seven fouls in the match.
Five different Panthers took a shot in the loss, paced by
Allie Lakie who took EIU's lone shot on goal. Lovelace led Indiana State with six shots (two on goal).
Jessica Taldone (0-4) took the loss in goal for EIU, making five saves and allowing one goal. Erin Mitchell (2-2) posted the win for Indiana State, making one save and posting the shutout.
EIU returns to action at Evansville on Friday, Sept. 7 at 3 p.m.
