EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- Eastern Illinois volleyball fell at instate rival SIU Edwardsville in straight sets (25-21, 25-16, 25-19) on Tuesday evening in an Ohio Valley Conference matchup.
The seventh straight loss moves the Panthers to 3-12 overall and 0-3 in league play. The Cougars improve to 6-8 and 2-1, respectively.
Senior
Emily Franklin led all Panthers with nine kills offensively, while junior
Reynae Hutchinson added five kills.
Sophomore libero
Kelsey Brooke paced all players on the court with 12 digs, while senior
Alison Berens had a nice night at the net with six assisted stuffs.
Emma Anderson led the Cougars with 14 put-a-ways and a .400 attack, with eight additional kills from Kelsey Augustine. Libero Chelsea Colclasure tied Brooke Smith with 11 digs apiece.
Team-wise, EIU trailed SIUE in kills (39-to-30), attack (.200-to-.086), assists (34-to-28), aces (six-to-two), digs (45-to-41), and points (50.0-to-39.5).
The Panthers did out-block the OVC newcomers behind a 7.5-to-5.0 net defense advantage.
EIU will continue road league action this coming weekend, as the Panthers are set to to face the Tigers of Tennessee State at noon on Sunday (Sep. 30) down south in Nashville, Tenn.
