JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – Nathalee Lariviere scored her first goal of the season on Friday night to lift Jacksonville State over the Eastern Illinois women's soccer team, 1-0, at the JSU Soccer Field. EIU falls to 2-9 (0-2 OVC) on the year.
In the 15
th minute, Lariviere scored the lone goal of the match from 30-yards out on the right side on a play set up by Jackie Rush and Austen Stoelting. JSU improved to 9-2-1 (2-0 OVC) with the win.
The Panthers out shot their opponent for only the second time this season, posting three more shots (17-14) than the Gamecocks. JSU committed six more fouls (16-10) than EIU while both squads took three corner kicks.
Freshman
Hannah Miller paced the Panther attack with five shots (two on goal) while classmate
Molly Hawkins added four shots (two on goal). Kelsey Bright led the Gamecocks with four shots (three on goal).
Jessica Taldone (1-9) took the loss in goal for EIU, surrendering one goal and making eight saves. Katelyn Geddings posted the win between the pipes for JSU and made seven saves.
The Panthers have now been shut out in five consecutive matches and will look to snap the streak on Sunday when they travel to Tennessee Tech for a 1 p.m. match.
