Women’s Soccer Posts 3-2 Overtime Win at TTU

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. –
The Panther women's soccer team snapped a five-match losing streak on Sunday afternoon, defeating Tennessee Tech 3-2 in overtime at the Tech Soccer Field. EIU improves to 3-9 (1-2 OVC) on the year.
 
In the 96th minute, freshman Hannah Miller scored her first career goal to give the Panthers the overtime victory. Miller finished the match with two shots, both on goal.
 
Trailing 2-0 in the 72nd minute, the Panthers got within one when freshman Bianca Navejas scored her first career goal. Senior Kristin Germann scored her fourth goal of the year with only two minutes remaining in regulation on a cross from classmate Ashley Streid to tie the match and send it into overtime.
 
Both of the Golden Eagles (3-7-1, 1-2 OVC) goals were scored by Ellie Iaciofano who found the back of the net in both the 48th and 67th minutes. She finished the match with five shots (five shots on goal) to lead Tennessee Tech.
 
EIU took three more shots (23-20) than TTU, including three more shots on goal (12-9). The Golden Eagles committed four more fouls (15-11) than the Panthers and took four more corner kicks (5-1).
 
A total of 13 Panthers recorded a shot in the match, paced by Germann who had four (one on goal). Allie Lakie also added two shots on goal.
 
Brittany O'Dell (1-0) posted the win in goal for EIU, making one save and not surrendering a goal in the match's final 27 minutes. Jessica Taldone got the start and made six saves while allowing two goals through 69 minutes of action. Jordan Brown (3-7-1) took the loss between the pipes for TTU, allowing three goals and making nine saves.
 
The Panthers return to action on Oct. 5-7 when they play host to UT Martin and Southeast Missouri. EIU opens weekend play against the Skyhawks on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
