JACKSONVILLE, Ala. - Playing its second match in as many days the Eastern Illinois women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 contest on the road at Jacksonville State on Sunday afternoon.
EIU fell to 2-11-2 overall, 1-4-1 in the OVC. Â The Panthers return home to play their final home matches next Friday and Sunday at Lakeside Field. Â JSU is now 8-6, 3-2 in the OVC.
Jackie Rush picked up a hat trick for JSU with all three goals coming in the first half. Â Rush rang the bell for the first time in the 10th minute. Â She added her second goal in the 18th minute and finished off the hat trick in the 33rd minute.
EIU was able to get on the board in the 38th minute as
Madison Carter scored her third goal of the weekend. Â
Lauren Hoppensteadt had the assist for EIU.
JSU held a 12-5 shots on goal advantage. Â
Emily Hinton made nine saves for the Panthers. Â
Chris Reed had a chance to cut the lead to one goal in the final three minutes when her shot attempt hit the post.Â
