INDIANAPOLIS – Cold shooting hurt Eastern Illinois on Tuesday night as the Panthers dropped a 66-44 game at IUPUI.  EIU fell to 0-2 on the year, IUPUI improved to 1-1.
The Panthers jumped out to good start leading by 11 points with 9:33 to play in the first half as
Grace Lennox had a lay-up.  EIU's cold shooting would start slowly as IUPUI closed the half on a 7-2 run to lead 32-26 at the half.Â
EIU shot 30 percent in the opening half but finished the game at 24 percent after shooting just 19 percent in the second half.
IUPUI began to heat up following their late first half run. The Jaguars shot 50 percent in the second half and 46 percent for the game.
Nevena Markovic spurred the run with 16 points off the bench making 6-of-6 from the floor. Markovic added eight rebounds. Markovic had five points to go up 45-28 with 13:13 to play.
Skakita Cox helped the Panthers make a small second half run with a 3-pointer and lay-up which closed the IUPUI lead to 12. Cox had eight points.
IUPUI's bench play responded as they held a 39-14 advantage.  Jenna Gunn had 12 points. Akilah Sims also had 12 for the Jaguars.
Sabina Oroszova led EIU with her 19th career double-double scoring 17 points with 10 rebounds.  EIU returns to action on Friday with a 5 p.m. game against Florida State at the North Texas Tournament.
