CHICAGO – Eastern Illinois and Loyola-Chicago played to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday afternoon in the first exhibition match for both women's soccer clubs. The Panthers will return to action in the regular season opener on August 22 at Northern Kentucky at 6 p.m.
EIU got on the board early as
Bianca Navejas found the back of the net in the fourth minute. Her blast deflected off a Loyola defender and beat goalkeeper Monica Gonyo. Loyola's defense clamped down following the early goal allowing no other real scoring chances for EIU.
EIU played both goalkeepers in the game with
Kylie Morgan seeing action in the second half. She made a save in the 69th minute but was unable to stop a shot to far post in the 78th minute by Kristin Rodriguez that knotted the game at 1-1.
