Women's Soccer Falls In Home Opener

Panthers drop Sunday contest to Indiana State, 2-0

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois women's soccer dropped its home opener on Sunday afternoon at Lakeside Field as the Panthers fell 2-0 to Indiana State on a hot and humid day.  EIU returns to action on Friday hosting Marshall at 1 p.m.
 
EIU fell to 0-2 on the season while Indiana State improved to 1-1.
 
The Sycamores found the net twice in the opening half.  Kate Johnson had a bicycle kick in the box in the 31st minute as she served home a ball crossed into the box by Sydney Lovelace.
 
Indiana State scored its second goal in the 39th minute as Molly McKee raced down the left hand side of the field sending a ball into box.  Maddie Orf was waiting in the middle and scored on a header to the corner just past the reach of EIU's goalkeeper Emily Hinton.
 
Hinton finished the day with four saves as Indiana State had six shots on goal.  EIU failed to get a shot on goal as Brittany San Roman picked up the shut out.
 
The Panthers did have four shot attempts in the final 30 minutes as the had a player advantage following a second yellow card by Indiana State's Alexandra Rodas at with 31:10 left to play.  Meagan Radloff led EIU with two shot attempts.
