CHARLESTON, Ill. - Marshall scored a goal midway through the opening half and then tacked on two insurance goals in the second half to beat Eastern Illinois, 3-0, on Friday afternoon. EIU returns to action Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. against Louisiana Tech.,

Kelly Culicerto scored the first of her two goals in the 25th minute as she headed home a ball served into the middle of the goal box by Lia Foster. The kick by Foster came following a foul.

Culicerto scored the second Marshall goal off a free kick following a penalty just outside the goal box. The unassisted goal came in the 55th minute.

Marshall added its final goal in the 67th minute as Sydney Arnold scored on a breakaway goal beating EIU keeper Emily Hinton to the low left of the net. Arnold's goal was assisted by Erin Simmons.

Hinton had eight saves facing 11 Marshall shots on goal. Thundering Herd goalkeeper Lizzie Kish had two saves.

EIU fell to 0-3 on the year. Marshall improved to 1-1-1.
