CHARLESTON, Ill. -- Eastern Illinois women's soccer fell to visiting Louisiana Tech, 3-1, on Sunday (Aug. 31) afternoon, yet the Panthers (0-4) did enjoy an early one-goal lead thanks to a score by junior Chris Reed in the first half.

The junior found the back of the net at the 42nd minute after the ball had bounced off the Tech goalkeeper from a previous shot.  That rebound then found senior Meagan Radloff, who fed Reed for the score.

Unfortunately Louisiana Tech (4-0-1) would knot the game and then take the lead with consecutive goals at around the 61 to 65 minute of the second frame.  The first came via a long shot from 25-yards out that slowly floated over Eastern goalkeeper Emily Hinton.

Hinton finished with 11 total saves as the visitors managed to out-shoot the Panthers, 24-10 overall, including an 18-4 advantage in the second half.

Kathryn Sloan delivered the game-winning goal at 65:07 as Annabel Prior set her up in the front of the box for the score in the deep right corner of the EIU goal.  Jenny Bitzer added a security goal at 88:00 for Tech.

Radloff led all Panthers with three shots in the loss, while both Briana Hickman and Reed each tallied two shots.  Sophomore Kathleen MacKinnon, junior Molly Hawkins and newcomer Chloe Gottschalk all accounted for one additional attack apiece for Eastern.

Four different LA Tech players registered four shots on the day, yet each team managed just six shots each in the first half.

Panthers return to home play this coming Friday afternoon, as EIU is set to entertain UMKC, with a 3 p.m. kickoff scheduled at Lakeside Field.
