Hannah Miller scored a pair of goals as Eastern Illinois women's soccer picked up its first win of the season, a 2-0 decision at Chicago State on Sunday afternoon.
EIU improved to 1-7-1 on the year and will open Ohio Valley Conference play on Friday at home against Southeast Missouri. Â Chicago State, a first year NCAA program, dropped to 1-8.
EIU peppered the Chicago State goal with 32 shots including 19 shots on goal. Â Carrie Hepp made 17 saves for CSU.
After a scoreless first half, Miller put the Panthers in the lead with a goal in the 58th minute off an assist by
Chris Reed.
Miller's second goal came 86th minute off an assist by
Lauren Hoppensteadt. Â
Emily Hinton had the start in goal for EIU making three saves during the shutout win. Â The shutout was EIU's first in a win since beating Eastern Kentucky, 1-0, in OVC action last fall. Â
Meagan Radloff had a team high six shots on goal while Miller had four. Â
It was EIU's first non-conference win since the 2012 season when they beat Evansville, 2-1, on Sept. 7, 2012.
